Newcomers are here to stay!!!

Akaki Gogia is another new player for FC St. Pauli this year. He was born in Rustavi, the fourth largest city in Georgia, on 18/01/1992 and at a very small age he moved to Hanover with his family where he grew up.

Of course his first steps on the grass were taken with the youth section of Hannover 96 where he played until the age of 12. Next stop was the youth section of VfL Wolfsburg and after four years, in 2009, Akaki was transferred to the second team. Pretty soon he proved himself and won the trust of his coach who gave him the big opportunity in 31/03/2010 for his first match appearance.

For the season 2011/2012 he moved to FC Augsburg on loan with a two year contract. His first appearance was on the first match day of the league when Augsburg took a draw (2-2) against SC Freiburg (too bad for my friend Erik…). Playing with Augsburg gave him 12 appearances in total. For the four of them he started as a basic and for the rest he was used as a substitute.
In July of 2012, Akaki left Augsburg and went back to VfL Wolfsburg in order to move to FC St. Pauli on loan for one year. This winger came handy from the first day. He is counting 14 appearances so far, 13 for bundesliga and 1 for the cup and unfortunately no goals or assists yet.

Best of luck for Akaki.
