Antira_GalleryA HOT weekend coming up at the neigborhood with two spectacular events taking place concurrently! To begin with, we have the 8th Antira Tournament,  organized by Fanladen St. Pauli, with more than 35 fan groups from 18 countries (including Greece) this year. And, if this is not enough for you, there’s also the 4th Millerntor Gallery, coorganized by Viva Con Aqua and FCSP with 3 days of art, workshops and fun, all of them for the noble cause of clean water. Seems that season is not over yet 🙂

 

A few words from the organizers (Antira part is translated, excuse any mistakes!) about both events from the respective event pages:

8th Antira Tournament

FOOTBALL FAN GROUPS FROM 18 COUNTRIES AT MILLERNTORPLATZ MAKE A MARK FOR LAMPEDUSA IN HAMBURG AND AGAINST THE RISE OF THE RIGHT WING IN EUROPE

More than 35 fan groups from 18 countries will meet next weekend in Hamburg 8th Antira Sankt Pauli . The Antira Sankt Pauli is an invitational tournament for fan groups from all over Europe who are actively involved in their stadiums against discrimination.

The event is organized , which takes place in Millerntorplatz Stadium from 30 May to 01 June 2014 from various fans and fan groups and the Fanladen St Pauli, the fan project of FC ST Pauli.

This year’s tournament is right at the sign of content networking work. Numerous workshops and panel discussions over three days , to fan representatives from various European countries * inside will share their experiences and activities. The focus is on particular topical issues such as ” Nazis in the curve ” or the impact of European refugee policy and the role of fans in social protest movements.
Fans from Turkey, who were involved in the Gezi protests in Istanbul and Ankara, are on the situation in the country and the developments to report today. The group Lampedusa in Hamburg will be on site and describe their experiences , as well as members of the Aachen Ultras or fans of the Black Rebels from Poland that were repressed for their commitment against discrimination on the stadium.

As a sign of solidarity with Lampedusa in Hamburg, also a friendly game of ” FC Lampedusa ” against a Antira All Star team with fans from all over Europe will be held Saturday evening at 17:30 clock on Millerntorplatz played in Millerntorplatz Stadium .
With the Antira Sankt Pauli FC ST Pauli the fan scene wants to strengthen fan groups in European football, which have been working for years in their clubs and beyond discrimination against or are affected by discrimination. The tournament is to promote networking among themselves and daily anti-racist commitment of the fans in her scenes , often under the most difficult conditions.

The not only since the European elections on the weekend observable , overall societal shift to the right does not stop at the stadium gates. For the fan scene of FC St Pauli , it is therefore more important than ever this year , this dangerous trend to counteract.

The Antira Sankt Pauli in 2014 is supported by Lonsdale London, ASTRA , ST Pauli Roar solidarity espresso , the Department Supporting Members of FC St. Pauli, from the Fan Club spokespersons and the KIEZ HEROES platform of FC ST Pauli and many many individual donations from the St Pauli fan scene .

The Millerntor Gallery is a unique project that combines art and social commitment. Starting as a 4-day vernissage, it then turns into the first permanent social art gallery in a football stadium: The stadium of the FC St. Pauli.

The MILLERNTOR GALLERY #4 will occupy the football stadium of the FC St. Pauli in Hamburg, which spans across 4,000 sqm. For three days, the stadium will transform into a public art project that provides an arena for creative engagement, intercultural dialogue and an exchange with the urban collective. The main objective of this hybrid event will take place in pursuits of international NGO Viva con Agua, whose objective is not only to raise funds in order to support clean drinking water and sanitation initiatives, but also to raise awareness of the lack of available clean drinking water in many countries of the global South.

CREATIVE ENGAGEMENT: Featuring interactive installations such as, “The Little Sun & Light Graffiti” by Ólafur Elíasson, “Inside Out” by JR, “Operndorf Afrika” by Schlingensief, “RLF” by Friedrich von Borries, “Momentum” Theo Eshetu, “Time & Life Lampedusa” by Melissa Steckbauer and “Instruments of punctuation” by Yazmany Arboleda.

ART AUCTION: A charity art auction will be hosted by Dr. Katharina Countess of Sayn-Wittgenstein, Senior Director of Sotheby’s Hamburg for Viva con Agua. The artworks auctioned include works from artists such as: Sigmar Polke, Udo Lindenberg, Bruno Bruni, Hardy Krüger Jr., Low Bros, Christopher Winter, Holger Jacobs, Melissa Steckbauer, Annette Meinecke-Nagy, Zezao and 40 other pieces by established artists.

WORKSHOPS, TALKS, FILMS, PRESENTATIONS, PERFORMANCES & SYMPOSIUM will take place throughout the event, allowing an interactive dialogue between participants, artists and visitors. The symposium will bring together a panel of speakers considering the following question: How can creative commitment improve our world? Panelists include: Adrienne Goehler (publisher and curator), Friedrich von Borries (architect and curator), Onejiru (musician), Aino Laberenz (stage and costume designer) moderated by Daniel Gad (cultural scientist).
