Fair enough!

Fucking sun in Greece won’t let it go, even now that we are close to the end of September. I tell you one thing. Going uphill from subway station to Soridon mid day when the sun is burning everything, needs good motivation. And yes, I had a really good one. Sankt Pauli against Karlsruher SC after the big turn. Warm atmosphere, cold beer, and a super oily souvlaki for lunch during half time. Can’t beat that!
As always, early action in the game and of course it is on our side. Buchtmann on 8’ in a free shot. Bouhaddouz takes the header but the ball ends in the hands of Vollath. On 12’ Miyaichi attempts a shot after a free shot rebound but the ball ends in Vollath once again. Game start showed our intentions. A quick opener is what we needed to secure this game. On 22’ Sobota tries to flank and works a combination with Buchtmann . The ball is a little too fast and when Buchtmann gets it, he is close to the nets but not in a good angle. Shoots, but the ball is blocked. On 32’ KSC defensives decide to return the ball to Vollath. Choi presses there and Vollath makes the mistake sending the ball to the penalty area where Bouhaddouz was waiting. 1-0 for Sankt Pauli and things couldn’t look better. Half time 15 minutes later with Sankt Pauli having secured those three points halfway.

Second half underway and expectations couldn’t be higher. On 51’ Miyaichi opens a nice ball to Bouhaddouz. He touches it lightly though and his weak shot get’s easily blocked. On 54’ we get almost close to 0-2 with Choi. Prömel loses the ball to Choi who runs alone against KSC nets. He shoots from 18 meters but unluckily the ball ends on Vollath. Then on 57’ and while Sankt Pauli was still reigning, Diamantakos receives the ball 20 meters away from Himmelmann. Turns, shoots and there you have it. 1-1 from nothing. And as if that wasn’t enough, on 60’ Sobiech saves the day when he sent a really dangerous high ball from KSC slightly away from our posts. Tables turned and this goal from KSC kind of got under our skin. The battle for the center kind of turned in favor of KSC and we found ourselves barricaded to our box many times. On 75’ Bouhaddouz takes all defensives on him and leaves Ducksch alone with Vollath. Ducksch shoots above the high post. Last big chance for us on 83’ with Hedenstad. Excellent free shot just a little below the upper post from KSC but Vollath repels it easily to a corner. Final whistle blew and the final 1-1 didn’t seem so wrong after all.

Ok what we need here is some focus after all. The team plays well and looks like we are starting to find our steps in the game. The previous game gave a sign for the big turn. Three loses gave their place to a victory unmatched and a tie in which if we had a bit of luck in certain occasions, we might be celebrating a victory now. But again the exact opposite might have happened in several others, so… A fair tie is what this is and we’re happy with it. Next game is this Thursday against 1860 München. Let’s do this. Forza Sankt Pauli.
