Earlier today, Philipp Heerwagen‘s transfer to FC Ingolstadt was announced, with a contract valid until the end of the season. This is a sad day for the Club (wanted to keep him), for us fans and in a way even for Philipp himself who probably had to make the hard choice between staying with the Club that he loves or finally having the chance to play, at least for a while, football before the end of his career. Saying that he will be missed is just not able to describe the feeling. In fact nobody will be missed as much as Philipp Heerwagen, considering the total time that spent playing with FCSP all these years…

I was lucky enough to be inside Vonovia Ruhrstadion last May when Ewald Lienen named with a gesture Olaf Janßen as his successor (in fact he was nominated already some months ago), in front of a blissful guest block, during Sonderzug 2017. Now, almost 6 months later, the story ends with the worst possible ending…

While last match report of the season was getting slooowly finished (still some media missing, will be up sometime 😉 ), the news on social media regarding a special press conference at Millerntor broke out. Shit, already some “suspicions” had risen from Sunday (there was also a post on Liga-Zwei already from May 18th that we chose not to reproduce it…) but this was going to fast… Fortunately, the final outcome was slightly different than the one I initially feared…

It was a Saturday morning, early March 2014, a sunny day at Hoheluft, watching our U23 playing against someone ( 🙂 ) and having fun with friends with booze coming from Victoria Klause (the excellent stadium bar). I can still recall myself back in that day, talking with a friend about Thomas Meggle (coaching passionately from a chair right next to the sideline) and saying with my usual idiot-impersonating-the-connoisseur “experienced” look “this is the next FCSP head coach”. Some 2 and a half years after, with all the things that have happened in between, the only thing remaining really cool about this, is just the memory…

Winter break maybe horrible for the obvious reasons, however represents also a chance to break the weekend2weekend routine and take a look at some of the ongoing Club issues. Such an issue is the Fanshop, a subject that we have dealt with in the past here…There have been a lot of developments towards the end of the year, let’s take a look at them in detail…

Azzouzi out, Meggle Sports Director, Ewald Lienen in!

Sudden development tsunami in Hamburg! Yes, you heard right: Rachid Azzouzi has been released from his duties, Thomas Meggle has been promoted to Sports Director and…Ewald Lienen is the new Head Coach of FCSP! This not just a surprise, this is like the entire Sankt Pauli Cosmos is turning upside down! The only thing sure is that we have a brand new ball game and looks like that there are no intermediate scenarios this time, this is Death or Glory…

Yesterday’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) could be considered as a milestone. New Presidium and New Advisory board elected and, unlike political elections (especially here in Greece where practically mean very little to nothing), this looks like the foreword of a new era coming for FCSP. Whether the newly elected Presidiium will make it facing up successfully the ethical (stick to the Club values), financial (we’re on a good but “fragile” and risky path) and… football (squad looks and IS SICK, walking another path, the path to Liga 3 Hell!) challenges, remains to be seen in the near future…

Common statement from the 3 Greek FCSP fan clubs regarding the Dortmund incident

There’s have been already a statement from us regarding the incident. However, during the course of this week (where a lot of things have happened) after some discussion with the other two clubs (communication was established almost immediately) we ended up with the conclusion that a common statement should be posted from all 3 Greek fan clubs on the issue. Aim, to pass a message of unity along with our position. It was quite easy, there was from the first moment almost 1905% agreement from everybody. The plan was to write a common one but after some discussion between us and the Athens Club earlier during the traumatic today’s game (match report…later) we agreed to both adopt and cosign the Thessaloniki Club statement, mainly for two reasons: a) these guys have the biggest problem (actually there’s no BIG problem in Athens at the moment except the blow to FCSP’s reputation, just the usual web bollockology) and b) because despite (a) they have made a very sober and mature statement – it can be found HERE. Since the main target is the Greek audience, it’s written in Greek but there’s no slang language inside, a translator will probably do the job just fine.

Also, thanks for the solidarity and greetings to the boys and girls of Apeitharhos Ioannina (the uprising glory of Greek football 😀 ), a club with a big sentimental (and not only) connection to the Greek FCSP fan scene 🙂
