To tell the truth we didn’t see that coming either. I mean….Yes we were expecting Sankt Pauli to crush Kiel ’n’ all but this? The Boys in Brown simply humiliated poor Kiel who simply hoped for an early stoppage in the game…

Early in the first half, Sankt Pauli draws first blood with Metcalfe. 4’ and after a corner from Hartel and some ball bouncing, the ball ends with Metcalfe who shoots a devastating dynamite against Weiner, penetrating his right side. An absolutely crushing shot and the nicest way to open the score board. Just before Kiel managed to get their heads around it, Smith on 7’, executing a foul kick, sends the ball in Kiel’s nets for the second time. A splendid free kick making Weiner look like a complete idiot for not being able to react. Sankt Pauli had the first say in the field. Kiel was totally jammed. On 25’, Pichler marches against Vasilj but Smith manages to make him lose the ball. He fell making it look like a penalty but the ref was smarter than that. No complaints from Kiel and the game carried on. Same player again on 28’ manages to score but his goal was cancelled as he was caught offside. Sankt Pauli was the dominant one and despite the fact that Kiel had almost equal time with the ball on their feet, they were sloppy and simply chasing their tails around while the Boys in Brown shook the ground every time they marched against Kiel’s box. On 38’ after a shot from Saad getting deflected by Becker, Afolayan receives and shoots on the spot, sending the ball in Kiel’s nets for the third time. Kiel’s response was a really dangerous shoot from Skrzybski before Vasilj but our keeper proved to be aware when needed, deflecting the ball!

Second half underway and it starts in the worst way possible. Clock shows 50’ and Holtby enters our defense line and after a pass from Skrzybski, he shoots, sending the ball to our nets. The punishment for them did not take long to come. 70’ and after a great pass from Metcalfe (who had his chin all tied up after a collision with Holtby earlier), Ritzka shoots from distance and scores for the fourth time in the game for Sankt Pauli. Kiel never looked more desperate as they seemed unable to stop us from penetrating their defense line either from close quarters or from distance. We even made it to a fifth goal with Albers on 81’ but Amenyido was standing offside so the goal got cancelled. On 86’, Kiel manages to shoot against Vasilj with Fridjonsson but our keeper once again deflects the dangerous header. On 88’ Weiner blocks a great shot from Hartel. On 89’ Simakala has a chance to make the score look less painful for Kiel but sends the ball desperately out of bounds. On 90’+4 though, Hartel manages the exact opposite. Shoots from distance sending the ball for the fifth time into Kiel’s nets.

What is the most important here to be said, leaving the “how our beloved Boys in Brown crushed the souls of poor Kiel and blah blah…” aside, is the fact that Sankt Pauli didn’t back down one minute on the pursuit for goal. Not even when Kiel scored did we back down. Sankt Pauli went pedal to the medal throughout the entire 90 minutes of the game. Dictated the pace and was 10/10 in every corner of the field. Defense was hard as a concrete wall (OK, there were some exceptions but…c’mooon), the midline was creative and had the best ball circulation so far and our front line was all fire. Damn it this is how we wanna see the Boys in Brown. Bruised knuckles and the blood of the opponent team all over us! This Saturday we expect the same attitude against Schalke. Nothing less!!!.. Forza Sankt Pauli ☠️☠️☠️
