Oooooh Yesh!!!

Now…who would have thought? Couple of weeks ago we were nagging about how Sankt Pauli was a sinking ship and so on, thinking of the outcome of the following games as they were supposed to be the hard ones and then…Sankt Pauli just proved everyone wrong by taking the giants down one at a time. Kiel entered Millerntor this time thinking that winning the three points would be an easy job. Right? Right??? Well, what they didn’t think about was their way back to Kiel with a sore ass.

First half underway and it looks like Kiel has started really aggressive in this game. They want an early opener to secure those three points. No one could foretell the outcome though. While Kinsombi and Van den Bergh exchange passes trying to find an opening to our defense, on 11’ after a strong shoot from Bouhaddouz that finds the right post, Neudecker takes the rebound and opens the score for Sankt Pauli. 1-0 and Kiel couldn’t look more dazed than ever. Of course the demons of Millerntor haunting us, couldn’t let us enjoy this a bit more. 2’ later, Sobiech makes a terrible decision on trying to claim the ball from Kinsombi illegally. The ref showed the white dot and all our prayers went with Himmelmann. Bollocks. On 14’ Kinsombi executes and bam!!! 1-1. And as if that wasn’t enough, on 19’, Kronholm sends the ball deep inside to Seydel and he passes to Ducksch (Remember our former player Ducksch?? Yeh yeh. Our fans seemed to love him. Noooot!), who was up to to Avevor to control. Ducksch played the ball as he was unattended. Marched before Himmelmann and scored. And the thing is that Avevor was in front of him the entire time. 1-2 for Kiel and what started as a dream game for us looked like it was going to become another nightmare. Especially when after the second goal our players started making one mistake after the other. On 33’ danger in our box as usual. Kiel unfolds an offensive and the ball is repelled, apparently not as deep as we would want to, as it ends back to Peitz. He shoots again. Sobiech blocks it sending it straight to Ducksch who shoots a dynamite from close distance but Robin says no this time by first, blocking the ball and then grabbing it to safety. Kiel had clearly the upper hand in this first half. Ball possession and initiatives, all belonged to them. All we tried to do, was stop their attempts on entering our already malfunctioning defense line. On 44’ though a bright light for us even though it was a foul kick. Bouhaddouz earns it, Neudecker executes it. Just a liiiiitle above their upper post. Final whistle sends the players to the lockers.

Second half underway and Himmelmann shows what he was made of. On 50’ Kinsombi receives the ball in the heart of our defense. No comment to that! The ball easily ends to Herrmann who shoots, but Himmelmann says no exploding and driving the ball away. Kiel seemed to control the game for sure. On 55’ Sobota  and Dudziak seem to be willing to unfurl an offence but their ball exchange gets stopped. Dudziak still tried though making many attempts. As the one on 57’ where he tried to control the ball against three Kiel players but with no further luck. On 58’ Flum loses the ball from Drexler  who sends it to Schindler. His shot luckily finds Himmelmann at place. All this time Kiel tried to penetrate through our defense. Their players though seemed to have an easy time when trying to pass through Avevor. It was as if every time, he ended up chasing after the ball instead of blocking it in the first place. 71’ and Buballa tries to send the ball away with a header. Not a good idea though as his header ends to Schindler’s feet. He stands before Avevor and shoots. Luckily for us there was Himmelmann  also awake before the nets. No harm done. This is where we decided to take our backs off the wall and face those Kiel bastards. On 74’ Bouhaddouz sees Neudecker open. Passes the ball to him and Neudecker catches the ball in the air and, with a tremendous shot, evens the score. The tables turn and it is Kiel now who tries to defend their territory as it appeared that Sankt Pauli wouldn’t stop to the second, and they definitely had no more gas left in their gas tanks. And so it happened. On 89’ a corner kick for Sankt Pauli. Neudecker executes and the ball ends to the head of…..Avevor. Yep, Christopher Avevor out of nowhere jumps and with a header sends the ball in Kiel nets making the score 3-2. What an unexpected finish for this matchday. 3 minutes after 90’ the ref sounded the end of the game.

OK, really now. With this goal of him, Avevor managed to close some holes in the desert that had his name on. I mean the guy is totally incompetent of anything. All 90’ of the game were him chasing the tail of the players that just easily run him over, or even worse. Him observing players in front of him, giving them space to shoot. The man obviously doesn’t know how to place his body, or even what to do it and how to protect our nets against an opponent with the ball in his feet. Sometimes he is dangerous simply because he has the ball in his feet and decides to shoot. We can’t be sure if the ball will end up to our own players or the opponent striker. By giving us those three points though, he bought precious time for himself to re-establish his position. Time to work hard man. Stop being just a goof. Ok so other than that, if we have to be 100% true to ourselves, leaving some bright moments aside, and the game was mostly Kiel. But what I’d see through this game was that it kept on a series of good results against tough opponents. Kind of proved the saying that wants Sankt Pauli working miracles against big teams and losing big time against teams that are not even in the map. So…Another big game for us this Sunday, the 4th of March. Traveling to Düsseldorf to play against Fortuna. Let’s work our magic once more shall we gentlemen? Forza Sankt Pauli!
